"We want to share with business leaders our common ambition to develop economic partnerships and trade between France and Morocco, especially after the installation of the new government and a year after my last visit to demonstrate how determined our country is to strengthen the specific relationship we have with the Kingdom," said Riester during a meeting with the president of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Chakib Alj.
After expressing his satisfaction with the strength, excellence and durability of the special ties that unite the two countries, the French minister said that both parties would benefit from working together on the various fields of development in line with the new development model.
This cooperation goes also in line with the French recovery plan and the France 2030 plan, which was presented by President Emmanuel Macron, representing a considerable potential for partnerships in sectors complementary to traditional sectors, he added.
This concerns partnerships in the food industry, aerospace, automotive, renewable energy, new technologies and transport, in addition to sectors that have "enormous potential" for the future that we must build with Morocco both at the government level and at the level of entrepreneurs and the private sector, said Riester.
In the same context, Alj said that this meeting focused on ways to give a strong impetus to co-investment and joint ventures, "including beyond the two respective markets," and in strategic sectors as the digital and sustainability.
In order to further develop Morocco-France economic relations, Alj highlighted the need to remove certain obstacles such as the tightening of visa procedures since the beginning of the year for Moroccans.
He also stressed the importance of working to establish a "healthy and favorable" business climate to the construction of business relationships, noting that the new development model has identified a number of concrete projects to be conducted in this area.
