This Call to Action is also supported by Argentina, Bulgaria, Estonia, Italy, Jordan and Luxembourg, as well as by several major digital platforms, including Amazon, Dailymotion, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Qwant, Snap, Twitter and YouTube, says the Élysée in a statement.
Many non-governmental organizations including e-Enfance, WeProtect Global Alliance, Plan International, Save the Children and Point de Contact, among many others, have joined this initiative, says the same source.
"Recognizing both the opportunities of the digital world for children and the threats they face online, the signatories of the Appeal are committed to facilitating children's access to technology and digital literacy while ensuring their protection in this environment," notes the French Presidency.
Digital literacy is essential for the development of key skills that will allow children to navigate and interact safely in digital spaces, while acquiring the reflexes of future citizens who will be required to evolve in a context increasingly marked by these technologies.
