The Declaration, also signed by Qatar as a guest country, was adopted on the sidelines of the 2nd edition of the "International Day against School Violence and Bullying, including Cyber Bullying", jointly organized by the Mexican Ministry of Public Education (SEP) and the Mexican Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (CONALMEX), in the city of Campeche.
This edition was chaired by the Mexican Minister of Education, Ms. Delfina Gomez, the Governor of the State of Campeche, Ms. Layda Sansores, as well as the ambassadors of Morocco, France and Qatar, said the Moroccan embassy in Mexico City in a statement.
The Director General of Unesco, Ms. Audrey Azoulay, the First Lady of France, Ms. Brigitte Macron, the Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports of France, Mr. Jean-Michel Blanquer as well as representatives of international organizations and many international experts also participated by videoconference in this UNESCO conference.
Speaking on this occasion, the Moroccan ambassador in Mexico City, Mr. Abdelfattah Lebbar, welcomed this initiative aimed at finding joint solutions to curb the phenomenon of bullying at school, stressing the importance given by the Kingdom to the fight against all forms of violence.
Mr. Aziz Nahya, Director of Cooperation and Promotion of Private School Education, at the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, also took part in this event through a pre-recorded video, in which he presented the projects implemented by Morocco to eradicate violence in schools.
The Joint Declaration aims to promote preventive mechanisms that allow timely attention to the school population who practice, experience or witness bullying. It is also an invitation to all UNESCO Member States to join this initiative to create school spaces free from violence.
