This volume displays a recovery rate of 65% for passengers and 77% for movement, compared to the same period of 2019, says ONDA's balance sheet.
The Casablanca-Mohammed V Airport received 1,457,154 international passengers, recovering 58% of 2019's traffic, while Marrakech Airport, by receiving 565,680 passengers, recorded a recovery rate of 46%, says the same source.
Other airports in the Kingdom have even exceeded their 2019 traffic, namely, the airports of Tetouan (133%), Nador (127%), Tangier (114%), Al Hoceima (106%) and Oujda (105%).
During the month of August 2021 alone, the commercial passenger traffic of Morocco's airports recovered 82% of 2019's volume, which compares to other Mediterranean countries' recovery rate, including France (70%), Spain (68%), and Turkey (76%), notes the Office.
This performance is explained, according to the Office, by the significant development of air traffic, following the Royal High Instructions that accompanied the launch of the 2021 Marhaba operation.
