At a public session of the AU PSC on "Hate crimes and the fight against genocidal ideology in Africa", the Moroccan delegation reiterated that the Kingdom, with its rich and deeply-rooted civilizational history, has a long tradition of peaceful coexistence between different religious communities and has always placed respect for others at the heart of its values.
Morocco has always been an example of religious tolerance, welcoming Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities for centuries, stressed the Moroccan delegation.
The delegation recalled in this sense the Royal Message addressed to the 9ᵉ Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, held in Fez in November 2022, in which His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, had stressed that "Politics speaks to citizens, religion speaks to their souls, dialogue speaks to their civilizations”.
Thus, it is essential to promote inter-faith and intercultural dialogue to foster mutual understanding and respect for differences, noted the Moroccan delegation, adding that Morocco has made significant efforts to combat racial discrimination and hate speech at both national and international levels.
